Das Institut für Medizintechnik wird im Rahmen des Zukunftsprogramms Wirtschaft (ZPW) des Landes Schleswig-Holstein im Handlungsfeld „Investitionen in FuE-Infrastrukturen sowie Vernetzung von Wissenschaft und Wirtschaft“ mit Mitteln aus dem Europäischen Fonds für regionale Entwicklung (EFRE) der Europäischen Union gefördert. In das Zukunftsprogramm Wirtschaft fließen im Zeitraum 2007 – 2013 rund 662,3 Millionen Euro für die wirtschafts- und regionalpolitische Förderung in Schleswig-Holstein, davon rund 374 Millionen Euro aus dem Europäischen Fonds für regionale Entwicklung (EFRE), rund 208 Millionen Euro aus der Bund-Länder-Gemeinschaftsaufgabe „Verbesserung der regionalen Wirtschaftsstruktur" (GRW) sowie ergänzende Landesmittel in Höhe von rund 80,3 Millionen Euro.
